AK SAQA March 2016 Meeting

The March informal coffee meeting for the Alaska SAQA group was held on Tuesday March, 8 2016 from 10AM -12PM.

AK SAQA members Diane Melms, Cat Larrea, Barb Hanson, Faye Stiehm, Maria Shell, Carrie Payne, and Kate Beebe were in attendance.

Member Cat Larrea, who is our lead on this project, led a lengthy discussion about the potential region show with the Hawaii SAQA organization. We decided that the next step would be to send an informal survey to our members to determine if there was interest among them to make new work for this show which is currently being called Not-Contiguous.

Carrie Payne let us know that the Girdwood Center for Visual Arts is looking for new artist members. As an artist member, you may sell work in their gallery for a 25% commission. This gallery is a co-op so all members do have to volunteer in some capacity for the Center. You can find more information here

Kate Bebee asked us if we would be interested in presenting for the Anchorage Log Cabin Quilters, Inc. on November 17, 2016 at 10:30AM. We agreed that it would be fun to do this.

Kate also shared information about a new maker’s space called Re-MADE located at 13500 Old Seward Highway and there Facebook page is here.

Show and tell was brief but very good. Cat Larrea shared some dying experiments.

She has been working with Dharma Fixture to see what different results she can get.

Kate BeBee shared a wonderful 3D floral arrangement she has been working on.

Our next informal coffee talk meeting will be Tuesday April 12th from 10AM -12PM at the Kaladi Brothers on Brayton <http://kaladi.com/locations_brayton.cfm> We will be in the meeting room with Nixon.

We hope to see you there!
